Police have opened a first-degree arson case, after a Kaimuki home went up in flames early yesterday. The fire was reported just after 1:30 a.m. at the home on the corner of 16th Avenue and Claudine Street. Seven people who were sleeping at the time, were awakened by a neighbor and they all got out uninjured. The neighbor told the family that he saw a man on a moped going up and down the road and then heard a sound. The kitchen was damaged and the fire was out before firefighters arrived. Police say an unknown suspect threw an incendiary device into the home and started the fire.
